Advisory Board - Plasma Physics
I am a Professor of Physics at the Department of Physics of Instituto Superior Tecnico, University of Lisbon. I am interested in the fields of plasma physics, plasma astrophysics, and high-energy-density physics. I am currently investigating different topics related to particle acceleration and magnetic field dynamics in both high-energy astrophysical plasmas and laboratory plasmas driven by powerful lasers. I am also interested in the application of interpretable machine learning methods to accelerate the development of multi-scale numerical tools in the physical sciences. My research methodology combines plasma theory, large-scale numerical simulations, and laboratory experiments.
